Lipotropic compounds help catalyze the break down of fat during metabolism in the body. Methionine, Choline, Inositol and Betaine are examples of lipotropics. The primary function of lipotropics is to prevent the build up of excess fat in the liver. Lipotropics increase the liver’s production of lecithin. Lecithin breaks up cholesterol and moves it through the bloodstream without clogging the arteries. Methionine and Choline are also responsible for detoxifying the metabolic waste generated by the breakdown of proteins in the body.
Lipotropics are often used to boost metabolism and aid in weight loss programs. The amino acids that are considered lipotropic are also important for other reactions in the body and therefore can still be a healthy supplement regardless of weight loss. Administering these lipotropics through injections rather than oral forms have been found to have some definitive benefits.
Some of the vitamin injections will come with a recommendation to be stored refrigerated and this should be clearly stated on your packaging. Most of the injections can be stored at room temperature, in a dry place away from sunlight and heat.
Yes. You must clean the skin. This will reduce the chance of introducing bacteria into the skin that may cause infections.
You can feel slight discomfort from the injection, but it is a small needle and most will not feel any discomfort at all. Make sure your dry off all the alcohol off the skin prior to injection as this can cause some discomfort if not completely dry.
It is not uncommon to feel a small knot at the injection site. This will not happen every time, but when it does don’t worry as this is just a local reaction to the muscle and it will typically resolve within a few days. Massage the area after an injection to help reduce the chance of developing a knot. Because it is an injection, there will be times that one shot feels different then a previous one and this is all do to how the needle goes into the skin. Sometimes you may find a small bruise and other times you will not.
Yes, local irritation and itching can occur for some. You can try to use some ice on the area to reduce the symptoms. This is only a temporary situation and resolves very quickly.
Although infection or other adverse reactions are rare you should know the signs that might suggest an infection. If you develop any severe pain, fever, or redness that lasts more than 24 hours and is spreading from the injection area you should notify your doctor.
